Octo Partners, in partnership with EDF Renewables UK, is launching a first phase of consultation to introduce its proposals for a new solar farm near to Port Talbot. Eirlys Solar Farm could provide clean, secure, low-carbon energy to homes and businesses across South Wales. As part of the planning process the project team will be consulting nearby residents and stakeholders, by sharing detailed plans for the solar farm and inviting feedback.

Eirlys Solar Farm is a 29MW proposal which would be capable of generating enough renewable electricity for over 7,000 homes*. Solar is amongst the cheapest forms of energy generation and quickest to deploy, helping to tackle climate change and secure energy supplies.

An information leaflet has been sent to local residents including details of a dedicated project website: www.eirlys.wales. The website contains details of the plans for Eirlys Solar Farm and will be updated as the plans progress.

The website includes a dedicated feedback section to ensure the local community can have their say on the plans before they are finalised.

The project team is also inviting residents to attend two public consultation events:

  • Public Exhibition (Ty’n Cellar Farm Community Hall, SA13 2PD)

Monday 24th October, 2pm-8pm

Wednesday 2nd November, 7pm-8pm

These events will be an opportunity for local communities to view the proposals, ask questions of the project team and provide further feedback. Should anyone be unable to attend either of the events, all information on display will also be made available on the project website.

Managing Director of Octo Partners, Nathan Welch, said:

“This is the very first phase of our community consultation. Relevant feedback and local intel will help shape our project so I would really encourage people to share their thoughts at this early stage.”

A second phase of community consultation is scheduled to be held early next year.
