Trelion is a proposed solar farm in Cornwall

EDF Renewables UK is planning to develop a 47.5 MW solar farm – Trelion – to the north of Grampound Road and west of St Stephen.

About the project

The project is currently in the early stages and we are eager to hear feedback from the local community on our plans. Our public consultation ran from 31st January – 23rd February but information about the project can still be found below.

Amongst growing concern about climate change the Trelion project could generate enough low carbon electricity for the domestic needs of 9,562 households* annually and contribute to saving around 21,598 tonnes** of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

There are a range of ecological and landscape enhancements that would be delivered as part of the development which will result in biodiversity improvements, and these plans include planting new wildflower meadows, hedgerows and trees.

The project will also deliver local benefits, including a community fund of £20,000 paid annually for the 40-year lifetime of the project.

Consultation details – getting your feedback

EDF Renewables UK  held a public consultation from 31st January to 23rd February to gain feedback from the local community on our proposals. We are analysing the feedback we received and will factor this into the final design of the solar farm.

Consultation materials can still be found below within the document section of this page.

Project timeline

EDF Renewables expects to be in a position to submit a planning application to Cornwall Council in Spring 2024. Cornwall Council will carry out its own public consultation as part of the process to determine the planning application. If the development gets planning permission, site preparation is targeted to begin in 2025.
